If you've taken some classes or have experience with clay and want to work on your own projects in a real working studio, this is for you.

My studio is at Treehouse NDSM in Amsterdam-Noord — a small, cosy space where I work on my own ceramic pieces. On selected sessions I open it up to two people who want to make alongside me.

While you work on your own projects, I'll be working on mine. You'll experience the actual pace of an artist studio— the decisions, the experiments, the things that don't go as planned. If you have questions, I'm there. But mostly, we'll just be making things together in a quiet space.

Maximum two guests. With me, we are three.

What's included

4 times 2.5-hour sessions, choose Wednesday or Thursday evening
Access to handbuilding tools and a brand new Rohde wheel
5 kg of stoneware clay per month
Firing of what you make with 5 kg, within kiln capacity
2-3 alternatives of studio glazes — feel free to bring your own

Monthly membership: €130

One session can be rescheduled or skipped per month.

A note on glazes

I work mostly with bare clay myself, so I don't keep a wide range of colours. The studio glazes are simple and transparent. If you work with specific glazes or want more variety, bring your own — completely fine.

A note on the wheel

There is one wheel. When you book, please leave a note whether you plan to handbuild or throw so we can coordinate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some previous experience with clay is required — this is not a beginner class. Feel free to book if you have taken some workshop or classes from me or other ceramics studios. You should be comfortable with the basics of either handbuilding or wheel throwing. If you're not sure whether your level is right, send me a message before booking.
I'm present and happy to answer questions or give guidance, but this is independent studio time — not a workshop. You work on your own projects. I work on mine. If you need dedicated time and guiding, please check workshops.
Quite a lot, if you're curious. Working alongside a practicing artist means you'll see how a real studio runs — material decisions, failed experiments, what the process actually looks like between the finished pieces you see on Instagram.
Small and medium functional pieces or sculptural work. Think like mugs, plates, vases, similar size sculptures or objects. Making large pieces is not possible due to kiln size.
Pieces are bisque and glaze fired in my kiln. I fire in batches, so timing depends on when the kiln is full. Expect a few weeks between drying and collecting your fired pieces.
Currently the open studio runs on a monthly basis only. Drop-in sessions may be available occasionally — check other sessions and follow @ravaceramics for updates.
One reschedule or skip per month is included. Additional cancellations cannot be refunded.
