The story of RAVA

RAVA means communication beyond words.

Studio RAVA, founded by Damla Aygun, explores clay as a way of communication through touch, feeling, and presence.

She grew up in a big family of makers: pastry chef, cook, tailor, weaver... It was a loud family, where emotions were not spoken but woven into craft. As a child, Damla started shaping red earth fragments from nearby sites around the house; this became her first dialogue with craft.

Clay silences her inner noise, transforming emotion, memory, and self into tangible form. She cherishes raw clay's texture, working through carving and inlaying to reveal its honest depth. Her functional pieces integrate art into daily rituals, while sculptural works carry deeper, unspoken stories.

Next to being a ceramic artist, Damla is a creativity & innovation consultant with extensive experience. Her ambition is to help people discover their strength and creativity, and to guide them toward their own goals. In her workshops, she uses clay as a medium for creativity, not something to be taught. Known for her calm but energetic, encouraging, and positive facilitation style, she believes that growth happens when people feel both challenged and understood.
